SCCEFC is a thriving, family-focused, missions focused church with a weekly attendance of 800 plus. It is a North American Chinese church with three languages based congregations of Cantonese, English and Mandarin. The church is centrally located in Calgary, Alberta. Our mission is to be united in love to obey the Great Commandment and to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ by reaching out to people in the Calgary area through such as Evangelism Explosion, Alpha ministries, etc. We have a vital growing children’s ministry. SCCEFC engages in small group ministry in its various fellowship groups. It is largely a bi-cultural Chinese church in North America spanning several generational age groups, with the majority of our current constituency predominantly Cantonese-speaking immigrants. The other two congregations are Mandarin speaking and English-speaking with demographics from toddlers through adults. SCCEFC’s polity is congregational centered on team leadership. Employing team leadership principles and practices, the Senior Pastor will lead a team of pastors and ministers to shepherd and oversee the equipping of the saints in the church, as well as to reach the unchurched in our local community.
Personal Qualifications
• Possess the Biblical qualities of leadership as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
• Trained in an accredited seminary with the equivalent of and M. Div. degree or above.
• Minimum of five years of experience in ministering in a bi-cultural Chinese church in North America.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability and demonstrated practice of team leadership in a bi-cultural, multi-staff situation.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in preaching the Word of God.
• Experienced in promoting and leading outreach and missions programs.
• History of active church membership and participation in a local worshipping community.
• Regular practice of spiritual disciplines, including prayer, solitude, personal study of the Word.
• Regular fellowship with a spiritual mentor or partner.
• Language ability: proficient in speaking Cantonese & English, reading and writing Chinese and English.
Requirement
• In agreement with SCCEFC’s statement of faith and willing to abide by the church’s constitution and by-laws.
Ministry Duties
a. Provide leadership, vision, and overall direction for the church. The Senior Pastor shall:
i. Provide spiritual vision and challenge to the Church, the various congregations and the Board.
ii. Provide leadership to all church boards/teams, participating in meetings when available.
iii. Be responsible for overseeing the overall ministries and various administrative matters of the local body.
b. Preach and teach God’s Word
i. Preach and teach at Sunday worship services, being faithful to Scripture and seeking to help the congregation understand and apply the message to their lives.
ii. Set aside regular times of study in order to be personally prepared to share God’s Word with others
iii. In cooperation with the other lead pastors and worship deacons, he shall supervise worship services and visiting speakers.
c. Actively participate in the life of the church and it members. The Pastor shall:
i. Be responsible for nurturing the spiritual welfare of the congregation in partnership with the pastoral team.
ii. Be responsible for the visitation of the sick.
iii. Perform weddings and funerals for church members, as requested.
iv. Provide counselling services as needed, referring long term counselling needs to Christian counsellors.
d. Supervise the paid church staff and team leaders. The pastor shall:
i. Direct and supervise the pastoral and non-pastoral staff.
ii. Participate in all hiring decisions for church staff.
iii. Provide direction and ongoing supervision for paid staff.
e. Other Guidelines. The pastor shall:
i. Encourage the development of reproducing leadership through mentoring and discipleship. Seek to delegate appropriate ministry tasks to others in order to help them develop in their areas of spiritual gifts.
ii. Work to train and delegate leadership in all areas where gifted and leadership exists (Eph 4:12).

South Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church (SCCEFC) is a thriving, family-oriented, missions focused church in Calgary, Alberta. Since 1988, SCCEFC has grown and now serves three congregations (Cantonese, English, and Mandarin) with a total weekly attendance of more than 900.
We are seeking a full-time Associate Director of Children’s Ministry to provide leadership for our early childhood education ministries (Nursery to Kindergarten). This individual will serve under the supervision of the Director of Children’s Ministry and will focus on nurturing faith in our youngest children and supporting their families.
Specific Responsibilities:
Meets regularly and works collaboratively with the Children’s Ministry Director.
Serves as a leader and representative of the early childhood department in the Children Ministry Committee.
Leads in planning the curriculum and teaches in our Nursery, Children Sunday School, and Agapeland fellowships.
Coordinate children’s programs of the church, including summer programs and special events.
Provide spiritual support and care for expecting parents.
Recruits, train and provides spiritual care and support for volunteers serving in early childhood programs.
Responsible for check-in and safety procedures for the department.
Our ideal candidate will have the following Qualifications:
Committed Christ-follower with a calling to full-time ministry.
Formal training in Early Childhood Education and/or strong biblical foundations through recognized theological training (seminary, Bible college, or reputable para-church certification) is preferred.
Active experience in a children’s ministry setting, with demonstrated leadership in volunteer management and the ability to work effectively with young children.
Fluent in English; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
Competency with basic computer software (e.g., Excel, Word) and the willingness to learn new software such as Planning Centre and Canva.
The successful candidate must be in agreement with SCCEFC’s Constitution and Bylaws and be willing to undergo the credentialing process of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Parish Nurse is a member of the SCCEFC Pastoral Team and is responsible to provide wholistic health care (body, mind, spirit) to the SCCEFC community. As a facilitator of wholistic health, the Parish Nurse promotes our Church’s mission on healing and caring. The Parish Nurse reports to the Senior Pastor. In the absence of a Senior Pastor, the Parish Nurse will be supervised by a Lead Pastor as assigned by the Church Board.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Parish Nurse is responsible to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care that addresses the needs of individual members as well as the church by fulfilling roles as:
A. Health Educator:
1. Providing educational materials to increase awareness on health and its relationship with faith.
2. Teaching that health is an individual and collective responsibility.
B. Health Counselor:
1. Increasing awareness of health needs by assessing groups and individuals.
2. Offering confidential health counseling to assist individuals and families with adjusting to disease, illness, end-of-life situations, grief and other health concerns.
3. Conducting home, hospital, care center and hospice visits.
C. Advocate and Referral Agent:
1. Assisting and supporting individuals and/or families to access and utilize the appropriate healthcare resources and healthcare agencies within the community.
2. Supporting individuals with spiritual needs and referring to Christian counseling centres when appropriate.
D. Facilitator and Liaison Agent:
1. Collaborating and co-operating with SCCEFC Pastors, staff, and committees to promote wholistic health.
2. Collaborating and co-operating with community health care providers and service agencies in meeting wholistic health needs of SCCEFC.
3. Coordinating and facilitating volunteers from within SCCEFC to provide educational and supportive services for those going through life challenges (grief, loss, illness, death, suffering, crisis, etc.).
4. Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervising pastor, which may include preaching, teaching Sunday school classes, and leading workshops.
CONFIDENTIAL RECORD KEEPING & ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
1. In accordance with all applicable regulatory confidentiality requirements, maintain meeting notes, patient health records, personal contact information, and other documentation.
2. Communicate with pastoral staff on matters related to individual/family’s spiritual and emotional support needs, while respecting all privacy boundaries.
3. Participating in SCCEFC staff meetings and other committee meetings as assigned.
4. Working together with the Pastoral team and deacons to review financial assistance requests.
QUALIFICATIONS & LIABILITY INSURANCE
Registered Nurse with specialized training in Parish Nurse Ministry.
The Parish Nurse is required to hold their own professional liability (Errors and Omissions) insurance with SCCEFC added as Additional Insured to their policy. A certificate of insurance is required annually, evidencing such professional liability coverage and additional insured.
A current and valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, as frequent travel is required for this position.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant must provide proof of education and professional license(s).
A Police Check is required.
WORK HOURS & SCHEDULE
40 hours per week.
Evenings, weekends, and weeknights as needed.
Be available on call and respond to urgent requests or emergencies.
